Former chief veterinarian at a national zoo, Dr. "LINK" Talbot is a third-generation vet who grew up on a farm in northwestern Massachusetts. He joined the Navy after high school and became a SEAL, completing two tours of duty before hanging up his wet suit to attend the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, where he earned a VMD and Ph.D. He's a hardened soldier, with the steel discipline of a SEAL and championship-winning martial arts skills. He views his animal charges as priceless natural treasures, and personally investigates any zoo animal disturbance. His skills as a vet, scientist, and combat-trained soldier prove invaluable to the GI Joe team as they fight the plans of Cobra Commander and Dr. Mindbender.

Link has worked closely with Mara in the past, and was captured by Cobra before being ultimately rescued. In August of 2013, with the destruction of the USS Flagg, he was reassigned to Naval Amphibious Base Coronado (NAB Coronado) across the bay from San Diego, California. In September of 2017, Link traveled to Texas to assist in the recovery from Hurricane Harvey. He focused on helping displaced and injured pets and service animals.
